2003年結成。リズム＆ブルースの香りが漂うジャマイカン・スカを
基本に、カリプソ、ロックステディ、ファンキー・レゲエなど
カリブ周辺のルーツ・ミュージックを独自にポップに解釈し、
歌ものをメインに演奏するスタイル。
2006年8月にデヴュー・アルバム「THE JAPONICANS」をリリース。
タワーレコードのバイヤーによるプッシュ・アイテム「タワレコメン」
に選ばれるなど各地で好評を得る。

One night in Red Hook, Brooklyn,I walked inside a
nightclub and was blown away by what I heard.
A young band playing Ska.
Not just playing the music like they learned it from
records, but playing it with the joy and heart that the
music needs.
The horns were strong and bold, the rhythm section tight,
and I remember this little woman playing a cowbell whose
infectious beat carried all through the room.
Wow. Ska music needs more bands like the Japonicans.
They are for real.

ある夜のこと、ブルックリンの Red Hook というクラブに立ち寄ったら、
そこで聞こえた音に度肝を抜かれてしまった。
そこでは若いバンドがスカをプレイしていた。
レコードを聴いて覚えたのはもちろんだろうけど、それだけではなく、
音楽を演奏する人間に必須な、音楽への喜びとハートをこめてプレイしていたんだ。
力強く、大胆なホーン、最高のリズム･セクションに加え、
印象に残ったのは、小さな女性が鳴らすカウベルの癖になるビートがクラブ中に響き渡っていたこと。
もう Wow って感じだったよ。The Japonicans のようなバンドがもっとスカには必要なんだ。
